Default Rock Band Review

I guess is about time I did a write-up for Rock Band, huh? Well, the songs are awesome. They have 80's all the way up to Nine Inch Nails. It's a pretty nice variety of songs. Although, in the single player, we probably played the same songs about 20 times before we finally said screw it and found a code to unlock all the songs.

The guitar is actually a little bit easier than then Guitar Hero series, but it is still fun. The bass guitar is super easy, but it is still fun, and it’s nice to have it there when you have people that don’t really play the guitar.

The drums are fun, but the bass kick is pretty hard to do. It almost needs a little bit less sensitive spring on it. But then again, I really don’t have any rhythm at all, so what am I saying! On easy and medium, your not really playing all the notes, so if you are a drummer, then I would suggest starting out on hard, because then

I wish the mic had some buttons to control it. Instead, you have to plug a controller in to be able to do anything in the menus. The whole thing about singing is that you just have to be on the right pitch and that’s it. Like the other day, we were playing and my friend didn’t know the words, so he just started humming. It was pretty funny. On easy and medium, singing is pretty easy, but when you get up to hard and expert, then it gets tough. You have to stop singing right when you are supposed to, and you have to be exactly on the pitch. So, when they say expert, they mean expert!!

Now, the single player I am not to fond of. Like I said before, you play the exact same songs over and over. In Rock Band, you have actual places in the world that you are going to play at. Then within those places are venues, then within those venues are all the songs. Now, while we didn’t finish the single player, there are a whole lot of venues that have set lists. We saw one that was a 17 song set list! You would be playing that thing for like 2 hours straight! How crazy is that! So, if you are just looking to play songs and have fun with your friends or your family, then I would suggest just looking up the cheat code for unlock all songs and just go from there!

Now, there are a whole lot of menus in this game. First you have your main menu, which has all the regular options that you would think a game would have. Then, if you select one of those options, you have a drop-down menu to select what type of game you would like to play. Then, once you get through that, you have a menu for each player to chose their character, then you have a menu for the songs, then you have another menu for each player to chose their difficulty level. Then you finally get to play the song you wanted to play. If you ask me they could eliminate the character select, especially in quick play mode. Then that way you would only have the main menu, sub-main menu, song select, difficulty select, and then play the song, but hey, everything can’t be perfect!

All in all, songs are good, single player is repetitive, mic needs at least a button on it, and playing together is absolutely the best! I give it 4 crazy potato rockers out of 5! 8)8)8)8)

Oh, one last thing. If you don’t manually calibrate both the guitar and the drums, then you will have to play ahead of the beat. And trust me it’s hard!
