But, I still showed up just about every week, or the weeks I could make it, because it was fun. Because I enjoyed the racing, the company of friends. Sometimes, we have to take a step back, and realize it is only a game, and it really doesn't mean anything if you win or lose, just as long as you had fun doing either one.
Silver, you are the best racer on the site, and I hope you don't leave. Guys, Silver was gone for a while, so he could not take care of anything, because he had some personal things that he had to do. I have no idea why the points system was changed while he was gone. No matter how big an issue it might be, it is still his league, always has been. If the President isn't at the White House, then the Vice President, who has been nominated by the President, will take over duties for the President. In my opinion, the Vice President was HveHitter. It seemed like for the first week or so, he had control, and then all of the sudden, the issue arose about the points, and then Wobbly took control. I think that we either should have just waited on Silver, or just keep going with the way the points were, and tell Silver of the problem. I still don't understand why that was done.
The whole posting the points thing doesn't really matter to me. Who cares when the points are posted, if they are posted right after the race, or the day of the next race. We all can think, everybody but me has a high school diploma, so I think if you really wanted to know the point totals that bad, then you should tally everything up yourself. In fact, this also would have helped Silver out as well, because you would have been able to spot his mistakes, and simply sent him a private message about it. SO, if you don't like how the posting of the points were handled, keep your own records!
I haven't took the time to read the thread about the make-ups, so I won't put my opinion in on that.
The biggest thing that is concerning me is that this site is going to fall, just like the others did. And when I say others, I mean XBLGames and munkee's. I was a big part of both of those sites, and visited both of them just as much as I do this one. But, they both had the same problems that this site is running into, people starting small little comments at each other, making each other mad, and eventually, turning into something big like this. Guys, all I am saying is that I don't want this site to be like the others, and I would like to keep this site around for a while. Hope you guys remember that, and hopfully I didn't make anyone mad with my comments, and if I did I apologize. Silver, hope you don't leave brotha, your too good of a racer, and too good of a potato for you too leave!

While I agree that the main reason to race was to have fun and race together I don't agree with your view of the points. Will they have a big effect on my life either way? no, but they were part of a tournament and as such should be kept up on by whoever is in charge or whoever he designates. To me part of the racing, especially in tournaments is the friendly rivalries that arise throughout the series. To me this adds an extra element of fun and excitement to it.
As far as keeping your own tally for the races, well I have two things to say about that. 1. It shouldn't be necessary as an accurate representation of the standings should be available to all in one place. 2. with 2 rooms going it is hard for everyone to get the times for everyone to do the math and figuring.
As far as Wobbly "taking over". This is first and foremost Wobblys site (along with GG) President didn't take care of it. Now I agree that he had a valid reason while he was taking care of things. Vice-president didn't take care of it. Now if this was my site and I was the one getting PM's asking what was up with the points and various other questions that were not being answers then I would do exactly what Wobbly did. I would assume a leadership position and take it to the people. He did that and he made the changes that THEY requested and agreed upon. Yes, it is Silvers tournament, but I'm sorry, things were not being resolved.
You say that you didn't say nothing while input was being given about how the points were for each week, but now you have an opinion that it was wrong to change? Why may I ask didn't you state that some opinion when it was being discussed?
As far as PM'ing someone, I did and I was told as stated that it would be taken care of. It wasn't. Now to me if someone is well enough to spend several hours a day tuning and testing a car, then they are well enough to take care of a tournament that they agreed to take care of. If you can't, then ask for help. That IS what a community is all about.
I am not trying to slam anyone here or in previous posts. I am simply saying that in ANY community people need to express their opinions on matters. You will not please everyone all the time, but at least listen to what the majority say or are asking. I may be alone on this but to me what makes a great community IS being able to say what you think as long as you explain why you think that way if needed. To me a bad community is where people don't speak up and end up bad mouthing behind each others back simply because they didn't speak up in the first place even though they didn't like what was going on.
There will ALWAYS be at one point or another in ANY online community. That is simply the nature of the beast. Are we good enough friends that we CAN be honest with each other? I sure hope so. We all have our bad times, so it is best to try not to take things as personal attacks even if that may appear to be what it is. Like my post. I am not a beat around the bush, put perfume on shit and call it good smelling stuff. It is still shit. So I guess you can say I am not very "politcally correct" to attempt to put it nicely or you can just say I'm an asshole. Doesn't really matter to me. But I think everyone needs to speak up if they DO have an opinion on a subject being discussed, WHEN it is being discussed. Please do not what until after a decision or change was made and then say "oh, that was bad" after the fact.
Now even though I will speak my mind when I feel the urge, there isn't ANYONE on this site that I have any real problems with. I enjoy gaming with everyone and hanging out. Hell, there has been more than one time that I have agreed to disagree with several others. Still friends to me. See I think too many times people look at the words or actions by themselves without considering what is in a persons heart. Just like your post Desto. That could be taken the wrong way and be found offensive if someone so chose to, but to me you didn't it because you care about the site and the people here and you are simply asking what is the real priority here people?"
Well, I agree with you in that respect the priority IS about having fun. But as a community it is also about reaching out to each other. Asking for help when it is needed. Offering help when you see it is needed. If it was only about having fun, then I could go on Live any time day or night and enjoy myself and have fun. But a community is a place to work through differences in personalities and opinions. That to me IS what makes an online community worth the time to join and post in, is to see the different perspectives on things.
Now back to what I think is REALLY bothering most of us or is an area of concern. Silverfox saying he is leaving. My personal take is that if Silver had not had personal issues to deal with then the tournament would have gone more smoothly. Personally I do not want him to leave as I have known him for quite some time and have always enjoyed the time that was spent doing something with him.
Hell, right now I consider Wobbly my best friend on Live and I can tell you (I don't think he would mind) that him and I have had our differences too. Even to the point where we took a break from each other. It had nothing to do with not liking each other, but rather sometimes things in the real world over power us and we are easily rubbed the wrong way. But as friends we work through it. THAT is what community is all about IMHO, not just staying nice and pretty or whatever.
Now some of you may not like reading stuff that I post as I know I am a very opinionated person, but right now it helps me work through some personal things going on in my life, so bear with me and I will bear with you when you have an opinion that I may not like or agree with.
Simply put....Silver, I can understand if you need a break. We all do from time to time. But don't let my or anyone else's opinion run you off from what I still consider the best online community out there despite all our differences. We ALL add our own spices that make the Couch Potatoes soup so tasty. ENJOY, differences, opinions and all.
