Domination

We learned a valuable lesson about "domination" last night. If you enter a game filled with guys sporting the same clan tag...prepare yourself for an ass whoopin!

I for one rarely pay attention to who I'm playing, killing or being killed by. That said, we ran across a couple of clans last night that just sucked the fun right out of this game. I mean to say that I was impressed would be an understatement. These guys where so skilled at domination that we were pinned everywhere. It seemed as though we were grossly out numbered, but of course we weren't. Not only do they know where all the spawn points are, but they also had a UAV up the whole time...so they knew where we were constantly. Armed with that knowledge, we were pummeled with grenades and air strikes from every direction. In fact, on one map I spent the entire game in slow motion as a result of the constant barrage of stunner grenades being thrown in our direction. To give you a better idea of the hell that I'm trying to describe, my longest life span with under 30 seconds.

I've had many a similar experience when I was a certified H2 addict. There are some groups that not only have the twitch skills for these types of games but also the knowledge to acheive "lockdown". These people would be more suited to tournaments then playing the average joe. One of my biggest grips with Live and the matchmaking system is that you rarely get a fair match against similiarly skilled opponents.

Doc, with H3, you actually have 2 rankings to go by for matchmaking. Bungie really did thier homework on this system, and have your experice ranking, and then you also have a ranking in playlists, just like you had in Halo 2. The only thing is, if I am playing with a bunch of 14,9,7s and I am am 36, it will usually match us with higher rankings than having a 14, 9, 7 and a 36 on the other team. If you find a group with the same tag, or the same clan, be prepared to get owned!
