Angry Beware of extended Service contract

piggy here to vent.... what a wonderful day, turned on my xbox today and got a rainbow of colors and then nothing but sound. my original 360 elite that I purchased back in may of 2007 died of the red rings. so I mailed it back for repair just the beginning of this year. we had also purchased the extended 2 year warranty on both the elite & original 360. so when I got the "replacement" elite back in march I was told that they would transfer my extended warranty onto this new one. so I did not bother to call in or write the contract dept. as I figured this was their job. well when I called today to have my elite serviced again boy was I wrong. where to start: 1: they had the new one registered to me but did not transfer the extended warranty, apparently I have to write a letter of complaint to the contract dept as they don't accept phone calls. 2. what I thought would be obvious of "new elite" new 1 year warranty automatic. WRONG!!!!!!! from what I was told "your 1 year service contract goes from the original one you bought and a new one does not get created when it is "repaired/replaced", the new one takes over on the already existing contract. So if you happen to send it in on the very last day of your contract then guess what, when you get your "repaired/replaced" one back you are SCREWED!!!!!! in my case since I sent it back in March and my original 1 year warranty ran out in May and that they "made a mistake" and did not transfer the new elite to my extended contract that makes me DOUBLEY SCREWED!!!!!!!! lucky for me we also purchased the 2 year warranty from circuit city when we bought it and they don't go by serial numbers but by model of item bought.
so now I have 2 choices:
1- write a letter to the contract dept and wait with thumb up rectum for them to correct this problem and then call xbox back 6-8 weeks later and get a repair box mailed to me and wait another month or more for them to send me yet another one.
or
2- go on circuit city web site and print shipping label pack it up and send it back to them, if they have one in stock they mail me a BRAND new (not refurbished) one and if not in stock send me a gift card in value of item including tax.

I am opting for choice 2 & am going to let my wife rip xbox a new one by letter any ways.

Sorry to hear that Piggy...they don't make it easy do they.

As you know I've had more then my share of problems with Microsoft. That all changed once I supported my 360 on 1" legs (rolls of tape) to allow additional air flow underneath it. I also added a laptop computer cooler to suck the hot air out of the 1" space and blow it out the back. It might be overkill, but I was sick and tired of replacing 360's every couple of months.

Wink Re: Beware of extended Service contract

I like Sam's Club way of doing extended service contract. When I bought my FF Wheel from them I also purchased a 3 year extended service contract. The cost is determined by the cost of the item purchased. Well, my wheel quit working one day so I called the "800" number and the nice lady ask for my receipt number and my service contract number. She then informed me she was sending out a $119.95 check (the cost of the wheel minus tax & service contract price) to me and I could do as I pleased with the POS broken wheel. I then found out my wheel was one of those that had been recalled by M$ for power supply issues. I went through the process and they sent me a wheel coffin. I later received a brand spanking new wheel in the courier (weeks later). So, the way I see it my wheel cost me $14 (for the service contract) plus the 6% sales tax on $119.95 plus the aggravation. I came out ahead for once.

That is a killer setup. But the white subwoofer bothers me amongst all the black. The Wii I let slide because it's ment to stand out.

Ya, I know. I actually purchased my Bose 5.1 system about 15 years ago from a friend that was going through a nasty divorce. In fact, it's about the only thing that survived his anger. Nearly everything else, including toilets, carpets and cabinets were torn out of the house and tossed in the pool.

Anyway, the main woofer and 3 of the speakers are white. The other two speakers and a second woofer (behind my couch) is black. It actually doesn't look too bad because the white speakers are mounted to the wall and the black speakers are on stands. So the only part that looks a little odd is the color of the main woofer...which you were nice enough to point out.
