Fail to connect

Me and silver can not connect to each other. Any ideas?

Me and Tree had that same problem for a while. I changed my XBox to a static IP address and put it in the DMZ, and it worked!

I don't know of anyone else having problems connecting to Silverfox Todd, but I believe most of those problems are due to router conflicts. Here's a couple of things you might try.

1. Update your routers firmware.
2. Put your 360 in the DMZ.
3. If your still having problems, try plugging your 360 directly into your modem (bypassing your router).

I was having problems before either not being able to join a room certain people were in or not hearing or seeing others if I did. I followed Wobbly's advice and updated my router firmware and haven't had problems since.

Updated today, and what the heck put 360 in DMZ? I thought Vietnam was over

Here's the deal. When you turn on anything that's connected to your router it's given an IP. The IP is selected by your router from a list and assigned to that particular device so the router can route information to and from it. Since the IP is chosen from a list, it's possible for the router to assign it a different IP from time-to-time...as it's usually assigns for x-number of days. Your host assigns your modem an IP in exactly the same way every time you log onto the internet. Assigning your xbox a static IP only means that it never changes.

That being the case, the IP assigned by your router is only seen by your router, not the outside world. Therefore I'm not sure how a static IP helped Desto's connection issues?

Like the military, the DMZ stands for the demilitarized zone...meaning outside your routers firewall. Your router should have an option to put at least one device in the DMZ. If something inside your routers firewall is conflicting with Silverfox's router, this will probably help.

Well, on my router, I had to make a static IP and assign it to the 360 to be able to put it in the DMZ. My router is weird, I know. Other than that, I know that worked, so I figured what the heck, and suggest it to Todd.

I just upgraded my linksys router firmware. It's latest revision was from 8-30-04. I guess they perfected it 3 years ago!
