Default Medal of Honor: Airborne ... Sleeper Hit?

Medal of Honor: Airborne ... Sleeper Hit?

I think so! Now I haven't bought it yet, but I am damn itching to! Here is what I know so far ...

So we've all played Medal of Honor games, they rank between good and pretty good. This new one on the 360 is great! Why? What makes this WWII game any different than the rest? Its 360! Huh? Yep its 360! Its the first time a game of this type has been this immersive. I must be joking right? Well, no not really. See when you play Call of Duty, Rainbow Six or Halo you are running around or strategizing on a similar level. That level is horizontal. In all of these games your enemies are always in front of you(or behind), sure there is the occasional sniper camping from a high window or cliff but your focus is usually whats right in front of you. As for those sniper spots, people know where they are and they know how to get you. What makes this game so unique and what I think is really awesome for online play is its maps are designed from the top down. You see when you are playing a multiplayer game and you die your "spawn point" (as we've all come to love and hate that word) is ... are you ready for it, its in the sky! You can position yourself where ever you want on the map by parachuting into the battlefield. Join up with your squad where you bit the last bullet or flank the enemy from a new position behind where you saw them last. You can land on roof tops and pick off your foe then move on to the next objective. So now where will your focus while playing this game? Everywhere! All 360 around your character is exposed. If an enemy lands on your head and pushes the thrust command (which is essentially an arial kick to help guide you) ... you will die an instant death! I like the concept. After playing the demo I can definately attest to how good looking the game is. The textures are very detailed!

If your still interested, pick it up or rent it. I know I will be playing it soon enough. There sure are alot of FPS games out there and more great ones on the way (Halo 3 & COD4) but I think this is one that shouldn't be missed, even if its just for a few weeks until something better comes out!

Weapon upgrades!!!!!!! Easily unlocked and effective!!!!!! Now I'm really sold! I just got my first weapon upgrade in the demo. It was a pistol grip for my assault rifle. Now it has improved accuracy and boy is it noticable! Woohoo!

... I'm not stoned by the way. Just easily entertained, maybe ....

I played the demo "briefly" last night. The weapons upgrades are nice and the parachuting reminds me a little bit of Battlefield 2. It's good to be able to choose you're landing area, but once you're on the ground it looks an awful lot like a Call Of Duty knockoff to me. That being the case, I'll probably just wait for Call Of Duty 4.

LOL, yeah I can get all worked up at times. I think I'm going to rent it from GameFly for a few weeks though!
