Default Cable Vs. Satellite

Well, I checked into it today and ordered a satellite system. The reason I switched are many. First off I get 3 rooms for less than I paid for 2 rooms with cable. Now the biggest thing.....I get 41 HD channels where I didn't have any with cable.

So......

Cable............................................. ..Satellite
NO HD..........................................41 HD channels, receiver on one TV

No DVR...........................................DVR on one of my tv's

2 tv.s, digital only...........................3 tv's. 1 HD, 1 DVR and one standard

Cost more for above.........................Costs less for above.

Lots of lies from start..........................Not sure yet.

It's getting hooked up this Friday and I am taking my piece O crap cable boxes back!!!!!

Unfortunately, I still need to use cable for internet as there is no DSL at my house.

Which Satellite provider did you go with?

We've been with DirecTV for several years without any problems. In fact, our DirecTV-Tivo was acting up a few months ago and they replaced it for free. Why is that a big deal, because it wasn't a rental Tivo...it was ours. We purchased it from Circuit City about 6 years ago. I thought that was pretty cool!

We're on Dish, No complaints about the service but with a 200 channel package it is about 20 channels of usable programming, 60 channels of garbage programming and 100 shopping channels we could totally do with out all together. But I guess without their subsidizing the TV system we'd have to pay four or five times more for TV. No biggie I just program them out of the remote.

I already did lol. Yea, I mainly watch the History and Discovery channels and stuff like that. Most of the rest is garbage to me. Satellite DEFINATELY has more shopping channels than cable hands down.

Yeah, it was a big deal for them too. No Tivo for you equals no Tivo subscription fee for them. Kinda like getting a free cell phone. They make their money for the service not the hardware.

I know, but I wasn't looking to spend any money on a new Tivo...so it worked out good for us too.
