Default HDTV down until Jan 2nd

Dam, this sucks, went to turn on my tv this morning and it kept turning itself off. The "lamp" light stays on after it shuts off. I just ordered a new one for 142 bucks, but it won't be here until January 2nd. That really sucks as the tv isn't even a year old yet and the salesperson told me the lamps last for 2 to 3 years, NOT less than a year!

I asked the parts person if it was pretty common for the lamps to last less than a year and she said yes. If I would have known that at the time of purchase then I might have looked at different options.

You should try your computer monitor Fox. It will cost you $40.00 for the cable, but it looks every bit as good as an HDTV does.

Yea, but it sure is sweet to be able to see small detail in a large size. Even with good pictures on both 19 inches of viewing can't compare with 65 inches of viewing pleasure. Heck, I don't even have to wear my glasses when I play on the tv, but wear them while on the computer.

Wobbly speaks the truth, I play on an 30 inch hd Monitor running 1920x1280 wich is a higher res than 1080p. I prefer it to my 60 inch lcd tv.

Just be glad you can change the bulb yourself. I can see a 2 week backlog + $100 for labor to install a bulb. That's one reason I bought an HD LCD TV.

I heard that DLP TV's you had to change the bulb after about a year? That is the reason why I went with a LCD TV.
