Well we went to "see Rock City" & Ruby Falls. We stopped in Dahlonega, Ga. We ate lunch at a place I've not been in years. The menu: fried chicken and sweet baked ham, with roast beef; fried okra, candied yams and a dozen or so different fresh, steamed vegetables; homemade yeast rolls and corn muffins that melt in your mouth. I tell you this place is awesome! They seat you at these big tables that seat about 10-12 people. Then then keep bringing out all this food until you can't eat anymore. This is the epitome of southern style eating. The only thing missing was my dear old grandmother from Virginia (God rest her soul). This place is called the
Smith House. Then it was on to Jefferson, Ga. My wife has a cousin here. These people are great. They've always been great hosts. The have a 3500 sq./ft. home on 7 acres with a private lake nestled in the hills just about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta. This place is beautiful. And I was pleasently surprised when their son asked me into thier home theater room. He push a button on a remote control and a 10 ft. screen lowered down if front of the library book shelves that are built into the wall. He then handed me a Xbox 360 wireless controller and COD 4 popped up on the screen!!! This game is amazing! Stunning graphics! The sniper mission is really cool. We played some split screen for a bit. Then a couple of his friends dropped by and we had a little Halo 3-a-thon Which I might add, these 20 something guys weren't too happy that an "old man" was whippiin' thier pimply asses. The 1st match I won 25 to 19. We played a couple of hours and I won about 2/3 of the time. I tried to get them to login to Live and matchmake but they said the internet service sucks in the country. Even playing split screen I had about a 60 inch screen. What an experience. They got 7.1 surround sound with these speakers mounted like 10 ft. up on the walls. This room has 25 ft. high ceilings. I was happy as hell. We got here on Friday night. I plan on leaving Tuesday morning and hope to miss allot of the Wednesday before Thankgiving traffic. This trip has really been nice. Stress free & no schedule. I suggest you all take a trip like this sometime. Just take time off, get in the car, look at a map and figure out how far you might want to drive, then pick a destination & GO! When you get tired of driving, pull in the nearest mall and find some wireless connection. Get on expedia.com and find you a room. I didn't have 1 problem getting into a hotel. The most expensive room was $80 and the cheapest was $40 in Pigeon Forge, TN. Hope to kill some of you guys tomorrow night!
