You could build one, I usually goto Newegg.com for my computer parts. It depends on what kinds of games you are looking to run, just look at Crysis for a benchmark. Or you could always buy a Dell if you aren't comfortable in building one.

1.5 - 2 Gigs of Ram
Raptor 10,000 RPM HDD
2.5 - 3 Ghz CPU
NVIDIA 8600ish

don't get a dell desktop. Mine sucked. Motherboard went out three times, sound card once, video card twice, and i went through 4 sticks of ram. That was in a two year span. We had a family laptop from dell that is amazing and still running today but my desktop was the worst computer I've ever had.

Just goto Newegg.com and buy all the parts you want and build your own. That's the best way, you know exactly what's in the rig.

A lot depends on the cash available. A HP from Costco wasn't my first choice, but after looking around for what I wanted most other places wanted about $800 more for basically the same thing.

I used to build all my computers from componants that I would buy, but I no longer have the patience for that lol.

If I did, I would probably still go that route so I could hand pick everything. Oh and I agree with the Dell thing. Although I didn't have problems with mine like swiger, I bought a "cutting edgte" computer that wasn't. But it was priced like one.

building is the best way to go. You will know what is in your computer and it will give you the knowledge to fix it if it happens to break again. It's so much cheaper also.
