Ya, they're harder to learn...that's for sure. In fact, myself and 2 friends flew nearly every weekend for several months and never got very good at it. From time-to-time we'd go watch the guy that flew the "Air Wolf" stunts practice at a park in San Bernardino, CA. I remember watching him hover over a pitchers mound with the nose pointed toward home plate while he slowly walk the bases, but the helicopter never moved...it was amazing. We also saw fly inverted a few times, which required him to switch from positive pitch to negative pitch in flight. Pretty incredible stuff!
This time my plan is to take it slow and easy. In those days we didn't have computers with fancy flight simulation software. All we had were magazines and a lot of trial and error. I've been looking at a couple of forums that seem to offer some good information, so I'll probably start there. Hopefully I'll do much better this go around. At any rate, I'll document my progress here.
