Trophies are here!! well sort of

With Sony's latest update of the PS3, trophies are finally here. Just not too many games supporting them. Sony's downloadable game Stardust HD is one that has it. (really cool game, very modern Astroids like game). But Sony does say that already released games could be updated with patches creating trophies. But not sure if you would have to replay the game, I thinking you would. In a reverse, Sony says that future games, those not already in developement, will be required to support trophies. Earlier Sony had stated they would not require game developers to include the trophy.

For those who wonder, trophies will be like achievements of the 360. With bronze, silver, gold and platinum. You will be able to see your friends trophies through the friends list.

Some things PS3'ers are waiting for are not here yet, like cross gaming invites and voice messaging.

Personally, the PS3 will always be behind the time until a few simple features are added, most notably, cross game invites. But they are coming!!

I actually noticed the trophies column while looking at a friends profile a couple of updates ago, but have yet to see anyone on my friends list with a single trophy.

Im assuming that trophies are their version of achievements?

Yep. When viewing someones profile their trophies are listed in 4 separate columns...bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

Well I may be the first Potatoe with a trophy. I was awarded two tonight in Star Dust HD. Man, that game is tough. Too bad there is no online co-op, just console co op.

You know I always like Star Dust HD, playing often when I wanted to play something, but not the usual games. I had never made it completely through the first level. It is sort of tough. But with a trophy dangling on the other end, I was determined to complete the first level. I did, and was awarded. This is what I need from Sony games, a since of accomplishment that I always got from the 360 games. I can now see me buying more PS3 games as long as they support the trophies.
