I found a tutorial for downloading Japanese Demo's. Its perfectly legal and only takes a few minutes to click through all the appropriate screens for creating a new user on your PS3.

There is a version of Gran Turismo 5 that you can purchase using your Sony Store and a credit card or you can download the latest demo.

There is also a pretty sweet demo of the new Hot Shots Golf.

Very good looking game. Only features Suzuka track, but has newer cars than Forza 2 in the demo.

Is this a different demo than the one Sony has offered. I think it is the GT HD demo. It must be, cause it is definitely not on Suzuka. Can you download it onto the PS3, or just the computer.

No computer, its all PS3.

Follow those step by step instructions to create a Japanese Sony Account/User and then download the GT5 demo. Its way better than our demo, it features 16 cars on the track and more unlockable cars. I also did this for the UK. They didn't have any different demo's there, but the do offer different PS1 games in all the different countries.

Has anyone tried this yet? Its pretty easy to do and its a great opportunity to play a demo of a game that isn't available in the U.S. market yet. I'm going to play it again right now!

It's really good! I think its difficult, but I'm not as good a racer as some of the guys here. In regards to quality its top notch, but its still a demo. Its not a finished game. For example the guy in the cockpit view doesn't ever take his hands off the wheel to shift. The cars also do not take damage in this version either. When the game finally hits the US store shelves, Sony will be selling systems like crazy. Thats for sure.

According to the information board on the PS3, the official release date for this game is April 18th. Gonna have to save for a new wheel.

Ok, I created a Japanese account as per the instructions. Then I went looking for the Gran Turismo 5 demo. According to the instructions "you should have no difficulty in figuring out how to download it. The Japanese store buttons are identical to the ones featured in the English versions". Well, they either removed the demo or I'm doing something wrong. When I click on the Gran Turismo 5 icon, it brings up 3 more icons. 1 (far right) is clearly a video, but the other 2 look to be games or add-ons. Unfortunately the both have 2 buttons, neither of which start the download...but 1 clearly asks me to input my credit card information.

By the way, I had to go through a ton of potential names. I was amazed to see that "Smudge_Pot" and "Couch_Potato" were both taken. I finally ended up with "Forza_Fanatic". Gee, I wonder why that one was available.

I told you it would be tough to find now that the digital distribution copy is available in the store now. I'm sure the demo is still there. Since I have more experience than you do in recognizing japanese characters I will try to find it and get back to ya.
