Default Hoorah for 1080p!!!

8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

I bought a new Samsung 40" LCD 1080p HDTV today! Its awesome!!!

I'm surprised at how much nicer it is than my 2yr old 480p/1080i HD-CRT I've been using.

$2k out the door with 3yr Circuit City warranty, which is a really good warranty btw.

Just have to pay it off before the interest gets me!

The guy at circuit city was telling me how they are getting less and less CRT's and more and more LCD's. The technology is finally catching up where LCD's have a nice broad spectrum of colors and vibrance. By the end of the year or early next year CRT's will be completely faded out from Circuit City stores.

I'm sold for life on LCD TV's! The clearity and precision is top notch. CRT's, DLP's and older sets all display an overblown image on the screen. Meaning your losing part of what you should be seeing. Wether its a life bar on the top of the screen or subtitles on the bottom picture has always been lost on tv's of old. With LCD you get the most accurately displayed image pixel for pixel.

Onto my new impressions. PS3 is made for super HD. Bottom line. My old TV although it displayed 1080i it did so with a somewhat blurry image. Now I can see the pixel perfect image I was supposed to and now the PS3's graphics look much, much better.

360, to my surprise can display 1080p on many games like Rainbow Six Vegas and Forza 2! Now even though the PS3 is designed for 1080p most of my games still only run in 720p ... but on the 360 almost every game if not all games that were designed to run at 1080i can be displayed at 1080p!

Its a beautiful thing!

Thanks for the info. The truth is I don't have a clue as to what to look for in a new TV. Other then the fact that games on my current TV (Phillips 1080i) look much better at 720p. Apparently progressive scanning is better the interlace scanning?

Yeah, my mom & dad got that same TV, and we have both the 360 and the PS3 hooked up to it, and the 360 looks better by far in my opnion. Just my 2 cents.

Wifey and I will be returning our LCD to Wal-Mart this weekend. We got thier Vizio brand, which has an absolutely gorgeous picture. At 720p, but had no complaints what so ever, even thought my 360 games look better at the 1080i it will display. But our first one, after about 50 days, once the TV had been on about an hour, the picture just started flashing. So we returned it, gotta admit, Wal-Mart has a easy return policy. We got another Vizio, but I do not trust it. Turn my 360 on the other day, but got no sound, so restarted my 360, still no sound. So turn the TV off and back on, there was sound. Today, my wife called, and said the picture just went black. Told her to turn it off and back on, and the picture just came back. So, think it will go back to Wal-Mart, and I will get another different brand. Been looking, 1080p is probably out of my range, though I did find one, a Westinghouse, for about 1200. Will have to check it out, not sure if Westinghouse has a great rep for the TV's, though I do know they have been around since the dawn of time. Also found a Toshiba for a little less, and I know their computer screens are fabulous, still not sure of their TV rep though. Anyone have any suggestions between these 2. Oh the Toshiba is a 720p with a progressive scan to 1080i.
