Default New TV Recommendations

Since I got robbed I have been looking into a TV to replace my old one. I plan on getting a LCD tv. Looking around I saw that when you go to the 52", which I plan on getting (even though I was used to 65") that they can be quite expensive. That is until I saw the Vizio VX52LF. They are about $1000 cheaper than other brands, and all the reviews I read are not bad. So, has anyone heard anything that I didn't come across that would indicate steering away from this tv?

Note: The wife will get bent if I get a more expensive tv for my room than we are getting for the living room. So that means that I will have to get 2 of whatever I get, so the Vizio will make a $2000 difference. Of course, she did say that she would settle for one down to 46" or so, but I really don't want to go below 52" with my old eyes.

All comments welcome.

ps, so far after closer scrutiny of items stolen, it comes to about $15,000 worth. I am in the process of the fine tuning for the insurance claim and the finalized police report. Still hoping they catch the ass wipes.

Vizio's are second hand models. What I mean by that is that you are not going to get a good of a picture as you are with a Sony, or a Samsung. Those 2 have the best LCD's in my opinion. I should say that Vizio's do have a decent picture, and if I remember correctly, did not have LCD lag while playing games, but the Samsungs & the Sonys have a better contrast rate, but those are the expensive ones. Vizio should do you good, and if you get them at the right time, Sams Club will have them really cheap!

Yea, I agree. I have always been a good Sony fan, but then I am looking at another $1200 plus to get them for one. I need to find some place that have them side by side and compare.

I wish I could say something intelligent here, but I honestly have no idea.

Yea, I don't feel much intelligence on the matter coming from me on this subject right now. Maybe part of it is the lack of sleep ??

My girlfriend bought a samsung 50" and it's been great. It has tones of ports and the HD is top notch. Had it for a year and there have been no problems.

Grey, I really think you would be fine with a Vizio, I don't think you would notice too much a difference because how you say your eyes are.

I have a Vizio, and it's small the 32'' model. But the Native picture rate was 1080i. I never noticed any lag or any problems. Had mine since last father's day. It has been moved once in the car about 500 miles and the backlight bulbs are still fine. I see a lot of Bars in the DC area that use Vizio and I will ask randomly if they have any problems with them. They say no. Works and is used for 12 hours straight everyday. Especially with Sports channels that have Still frames at the bottom of the screen. It doesn't have a burn in problem. I would say to go with it for 90 days from Sam's Club and return it if you don't like it. Works like a charm
