Cheap phone service

Because of my financial situation I have cancelled my AT&T phone service. It was costing me about $55 per month. I saw this cool gadget on an info-mmercial and gave it a try. It's called a MagicJack. You plug it in to any pc with XP or Vista and a USB port. You then plug ANY regular phone into it. There is no installation. It auto launches itself and only installs an icon on the desktop to use the software phone (mic & speakers) on you pc. It costs $39.95 the first YEAR. Then $20 a YEAR from then on. They let you pick the closest area code to you and assign you your own phone number with that area code. You can buy one and send it to anyone overseas and they can call anywhere in the continental US toll free. There are no charges. International calling is pennies per minute. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 months and no complaints so far.

Hum, I'm glad you posted this Tree. I actually saw this little gadget on our local news a few days ago and wondered how well it worked.

Let me clarify something. I use a cordless house phone on this MagicJack not my pc speakers and a mic. You can use any phone you use in your home.
